It’s the everyday challenges that make life interesting and by overcoming these, our life becomes more meaningful. Year 2020 was no exception for James Dunlop Textiles and our valued team.
Despite the disruptions, James Dunlop Textiles continued to invest in the team, working alongside our ‘Skills for Work’ partners. A commitment to continued training and growth with an emphasis on workplace literacy and numeracy helped to improve individual and team performance.
During 2020, we embarked on two types of training; The Building Blocks for Success leadership course which lead to six of our team members gaining a NZ Certificate in Business (Introduction to Team Leadership) level 3. With a further 17 team members working hard to complete the Foundations for Success training.
Each year, Skills Highway invite approved providers to enter their Skills Highway Champion Awards. This year they had over 65 entries across each category, with a high calibre of applicants in each section.
James Dunlop Textiles was nominated in their “Champion Employer” category and through our ongoing dedication and success across all courses, we received “Highly Commended” and overall runner up for this category. It was recognised that the business took significant steps to support learning in the workplace, and continuously went above and beyond to support professional growth of learners during and after the course had ended.
We congratulate everyone who has been a part of this programme and look forward to hearing more success stories.
