Habitat by James Dunlop

Pigmented palettes appear across the range to at once soothe and energize, nurture and revive

James Dunlop’s Habitat Collection fosters slow interiors with an appreciation of quality and craftsmanship, presented through an inherently modern sensibility. Celebrating the cherished objects collected during travels and personal experiences which narrate the story of an interior and bring character to a space.

Taking inspiration from our local architecture’s embrace of our landscapes, and our relationship to nature through a desire for indoor-outdoor flow, high studs, and vast views. Pigmented palettes of tobacco, sepia, rust, and clay, accented by sage greens and blush pinks, appear across the range to at once soothe and energize, nurture and revive. Pattern further enriches our spaces, in soft geometrics which capture the hand of the maker or transport us to a nourishing environment of cedar timbers, birch trees, and bamboo forests.

“Given our close geographical proximity to Asia, we share an inherent love of minimalism, quality, and craftsmanship. As you all know, our architecture and interior design often feature an inherent modernism and simplicity, with a focus on materiality. Through over-scaling our motifs and creating more negative space our decorative drapery designs become more relaxed; they open up and feel more casual against the vistas beyond our windows.” Annie Moir, James Dunlop Design Director

Inspired by the concept of open air gardens found within interior spaces worldwide, James Dunlop’s Atrium print showcases biophilic design by inviting the outside in. Tropical foliage motifs are delicately painted in watercolour and layered into a composition suggestive of a growing rainforest at the window. Digitally printed in Turkey onto a sheer linen base cloth that welcomes dappled light into a space, Atrium is printed continuously for ease of manufacturing. Available in three colour palettes; a perennial pairing of mellow green and ochre hues, rich cedar and sepia tones reminiscent of mid-century timbers and a soft warm neutral that each evoke a grounding sense of calm from nature.

Bauhaus captures the artist’s hand in a large-scale repeat of considered geometric motifs, artfully arranged to carry the eye through blocks of colour in a space. Channeling mid-century modern design principles of visual balance through asymmetry, simplified linear shapes are offset by soft curves and arranged in four harmonious colour compositions. Basalt, sepia and pigmented earthen tones are available alongside desert clay tones and willow set in parchment grounds. Bauhaus is digitally printed in India to capture the hand detailing and sketch-like quality of the original artwork onto a tumbled linen base cloth.

Supervio

An accessible velvet, Supervio offers a luxuriously thick pile in a practical polyester composition. With the added benefits of FibreGuard stain-resistant technology, this foundational plain is suitable for residential and commercial specification.
