James Dunlop’s Top 10
James Dunlop design director and fifth generation family member, Annie Moir, shares ten of her must-have textiles from the James Dunlop range.

James Dunlop has a wonderful range of textiles that truly stand the test of time. Whether developing artisanal linens or high preforming synthetics, timeless design is always at the forefront of our minds. We are extremely lucky to work with incredible mills from all over the globe who help us to transform our creative vision into tangible products.
When creating textiles for the James Dunlop brand we look to the lush native bush and coastal landscapes to direct our colour palette and design aesthetic. The way we live in Australia and New Zealand, with our relaxed antipodean lifestyle, also hugely influences our design sensibility – we love to bring influence from the outdoors in.
Without further ado – and in no particular order – here are ten of my favourites:
Kyoto
Kyoto
100% Linen | 290cm wide
Woven in Turkey, Kyoto is James Dunlop’s signature pure linen, wide-width drapery. Trusted for its quality and loved for its elegant, tumbled finish, Kyoto is yarn dyed, washable, and custom coloured in the James Dunlop studio. Classic shades of fresh white, duck egg, blush, pistachio, and ink sit alongside rich earthen hues of oxide, rust, truffle and walnut to complement Kyoto’s top selling neutrals.
Entwine
Entwine
82% Acrylic, 18% Polyester | 140m wide
Revered for its texture and trusted for its durability, this dimensional boucle is woven in a synthetic composition emulating luxury natural fibre. A tactile boucle that can be confidently lived on within the family home or commercial space, Entwine delivers restorative and nostalgic colour for all levels of the market.

Kanji
Kanji
100% Linen | 300cm wide
Kanji is a pure linen sheer with an incredibly soft tumbled finish, providing an energetic handle and drape. Woven in Turkey and piece dyed in a nature-inspired custom colour palette where decorative shades of lilac sit cohesively alongside khaki greens and mineral tones.
Bauhaus
Bauhaus
100% Linen | 137cm wide
Bauhaus captures the artist’s hand in a large-scale repeat of considered geometric motifs, artfully arranged to carry the eye through blocks of colour in a space. Channeling mid-century modern design principles of visual balance through asymmetry, simplified linear shapes are offset by soft curves and arranged in four harmonious colour compositions. Basalt, sepia and pigmented earthen tones are available alongside desert clay tones and willow set in parchment grounds. Bauhaus is digitally printed in India to capture the hand detailing and sketch-like quality of the original artwork onto a tumbled linen base cloth.
Laconia Air
Laconia Air
100% Linen | 300cm wide
A pure linen that stands the test of time, Laconia Air is woven in Turkey and expertly tumbled with an Airo finish to provide a soft handle and fluid drape. Laconia Air has been recoloured in a contemporary colour palette to ensure this classic continues to provide effortless elegance for years to come.
Komodo Dragon
Komodo Dragon
90% Cotton, 10% Linen | 137cm wide
Komodo Dragon is our Australasian interpretation of an iconic textile design. This liveable depiction evokes a dreamlike scene where the dragon is nearly camouflaged, perhaps floating amongst the clouds or gliding across organic rock formations. Digitially printed in the UK with EcoFast inks in three custom colourways: Porcelain blue with warm neutral and cobalt accents, Bamboo green with tobacco tones and lilac accents, and Basalt with tones of umber, pink clay, and caramel. Komodo Dragon is suitable for light duty residential upholstery and drapery.

Element
Element
55% Acrylic, 35% Polyester, 15% Wool | 290cm wide
Element is for the true textile enthusiast. Featuring a double-cloth construction with intricate binding, Element is a heavy, reversible, semi sheer with complex colouration. Woven in Belgium in a predominantly synthetic composition with 15% wool, Element has extraordinary dimension and texture while remaining highly practical. In a custom palette inspired by the New Zealand landscape, neutrals and mineral tones sit alongside pigmented shades of terracotta, ochre, and rich olive.
Handblock
Handblock
40% Cotton, 60% Linen | 280cm wide
Digitally printed in Spain onto a natural, cotton linen base cloth, the gesture of a hand printed wood block is reflected in abstract strokes of layered neutral tones. Embracing the notion of imperfect wabi sabi principles, Handblock feels at once graphic and organic, perfectly placed within both warm or cool residential schemes.
Jinda
Jinda
19% Linen, 37% Polyester, 44% Viscose | 140cm wide
A transitional plaid reimagined in a blended composition; Jinda is a practical upholstery textile with a remarkably soft handle. Woven in India in an organic colour palette reflective of our hinterland countryside, Jinda suits both traditional and mid-century modern furniture frames.
